Purpose/Introduction
The Orange Technical Superintendent is responsible for the development and leadership of four First Line Leaders at the Orange site (Process Engineering, Projects, Process Controls, and Lab), each accountable to the success of the Orange Units (CPF, GPO, and Utilities). This role is responsible for the safety, functional excellence, and maximizing results of the Technical department; inclusive of 30 personnel (engineers, lab technicians, process control and project personnel). The Superintendent cascades the Orange Site vision, focus areas, and prioritizes Units’ needs to drive improvements and barrier removal in closing gaps in profitability targets.
Responsibilities
- Process Optimization / Field Support Engineering: Drives competitive excellence of Units through safe, efficient MOC and process monitoring. Supports daily/weekly prioritization of the Unit needs to drive 0% ULP. Driving profitability enhancement through long term monitoring and gap closure efficiencies. Sponsors Quality Improvement Team (QIT) through targeted focus areas to reduce sub-standard product.
- Capital Project: Manages and oversee sites’ capital budget portfolio while driving cost efficient, risk prioritized projects at the site ($16M/yr). Additionally, stewards competitive budget performance and 3rd party spend reductions with Finance, Ops & Maint. with monthly expense budget stewardship to OLT.
- Process Control: Supports reliability improvements through alarm management and DCS/ICS risk reduction along with Sponsoring Constraint Management Team.
- Laboratory: Supports QIT site objectives, ensures quality assurance per compliance, and removes barriers for site quality goals per site scorecard.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree with a minimum of 7 years manufacturing engineering experience
- Previous leadership experience over Engineers and/or in a manufacturing environment
- Results/outcomes-oriented leader with leader/people development, planning and organizational skills
- Strategic-stretch capability with ability to drive organizational clarity, and barrier removal/problem solving on specific efforts with targeted results/outcomes
- Knowledge of Industry and Company design codes and practices, inherently safe design practices, process safety, pressure relief systems, process risk-mitigation, and a commitment to personnel safety
- Possess strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills, previous supervisory experience
- Candidates must also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and impart a positive attitude with developed interpersonal skills to resolve plant issues and challenges with other functional groups
