Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Vibration Analyst to join the Golden Triangle Polymers facility in Orange, TX that will be operated by Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP.  This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up. 

 

This position will join the Golden Triangle Polymers Reliability team and would be responsible for working closely with the Operations and Maintenance teams at the Olefins, Polyethylene, and Utilities units. This position would provide scheduling, compilation, and analysis of vibration data collected on routine routes, and monitoring and analysis of the data from on-line monitoring systems. Initially this position will be more project focused ensuring that systems are setup and in-place for a safe startup and reliable plant operations. Following startup, the job functions will transition to a more traditional vibration analyst role characterized by normal plant operations. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the plant’s rotating equipment lubrication program.

 

This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX, and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations.  #HPCP

Responsibilities

  • Take an active role in all aspects of safety by maintaining a proactive safety culture on all jobs
  • Work closely with the Rotating Equipment Reliability Specialists and Engineers assisting in troubleshooting vibration discrepancies, inspecting equipment for repairs/overhauls, and in the root cause analysis process
  • Conduct routine vibration monitoring routes, analyze vibration points, and develop recommendations for machinery repair based on deficiencies found during analysis
  • Develop and send out summary vibration analysis reports to customers on machinery in assigned area
  • Maintain the vibration databases and the on-line vibration surveillance equipment, monitor online vibration trends, and report on concerns
  • Ensuring data obtained is documented per the plant and corporate standards
  • Responding to call out requests for machinery troubleshooting using vibration analysis tools
  • Assist Operations with startup and troubleshooting on rotating equipment
  • Develop and manage lubrication program including lubrication standards, lubrication audits, sample results analysis, and lubrication training

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Manage development of standards for plants quality processes including equipment ranking, visual controls identification, recurring duties, and equipment general inspection standards
  • Communicate equipment repair status through both written and verbal communications
  • Coordinate and conduct pre and post shut down machine surveillance requirements
  • Present to various plant audiences on topics related to the vibration program
  • Perform rotating equipment QA/QC during turnaround events

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with at least 3 years of Vibration Analysis experience
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in Operation and/or Maintenance of rotating equipment in a petrochemical plant, power plant or other process plant
  • ISO Level 1 Vibration Certification
  • Good knowledge of vibration fundamentals, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of various rotating machinery problem

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in root cause failure analysis
  • Condition monitoring program experience (Meridium APM preferred)
  • Experience with equipment deficiency reporting, tracking, and resolution
  • Knowledge of mechanical seals, pumps, compressors, and steam turbines
  • Experience in rotating equipment repair
  • Experience with online condition monitoring systems and hardware (BN 3500, Orbit 60, System 1, Prognost, etc.)
  • ISO Level II Certification
  • Experience with vibration data collection and analysis (CSI 2140 and AMS Machinery Manager is a plus)
  • Knowledgeable in lubrication standards and/or analysis for rotating equipment
  • ICML MLA I or MLT I, or higher
