Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking an Electrician to join our team at our Pasadena Plastics Complex in Pasadena, Texas.  This position will provide journeyman level installation, maintenance and service of electrical systems at the plant. 

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all health, safety and environmental practices and policies.
  • Remove and install all electrical related process equipment up to 138KV.
  • Install electrical equipment including conduit, wires, support and related equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and repair electrical equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on 4160 and 480 volt motor starters, motors up to 8000 h.p., UPS battery systems, A.C. and D.C. variable speed drive controllers and electrical motor operated valves. 
  • Complete minor electrical design work.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in an electrical field OR a four-year certified electrical apprenticeship certificate.
  • Must have at least 3 years journeyman level Electrician experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems up to 138KV.
  • Ability to interpret and understand electrical drawings, schematics, PLC Boolean logic and equipment manuals.
  • Knowledge and/or training in the NEC and NFPA 70E.
  • Familiarity with various Programmable Logic Controller systems (PLC).
  • General understanding of E&I equipment, mechanical integrity policies, and process safety management.
  • Additionally, this position requires excellent interpersonal skills; verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner. The successful candidate must demonstrate a continuous improvement mentality, be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions in technically difficult situations.
  • Physical requirements for this position include climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and performing a wide range of physical activities while working at various heights.
  • This position includes shift work and overtime, when required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing plant process maintenance.
  • Ability to interact with other departments for equipment repairs.
