Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Polyethylene Shift Team Leader to join our team at our chemical plant in Pasadena, Texas.  This position is responsible for managing day-to-day operations in the plant associated with safety, environmental, quality, production, and costs.  The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership skills to plan, organize, and direct work in an efficient manner.  Duties include promoting a safe work environment through the Tenets of Operation & Life-Saving Rules, ensuring environmental compliance, operating reliably, and ensuring production of the highest quality product.  The Shift Team Leader will work with unit operators, engineering, leadership team, and all other departments to ensure all safety, environmental, production, and cost goals are met.  

Responsibilities

⦁    Follows safe work practices, basic operations procedures and contributes to a safe work culture
⦁    Follows the Tenets of Operations, COO/OD, and Life Saving Rules 
⦁    Ensures the team follows all safety/environmental policies, procedures, and practices
⦁    Addresses all safety and environmental issues promptly
⦁    Serves as a role model for safety and compliance
⦁    Ensures the team follows operating plans and practices
⦁    Plans and coordinates maintenance with operations/maintenance coordinator  
⦁    Assists operators with a timely turnover of equipment to maintenance
⦁    Ensures equipment is received from maintenance and returned to service safely and efficiently
⦁    Works with the PSM/training coordinator to develop an effective and productive team
⦁    Supports performance evaluation, positive relationships, and consistent use of policies 
⦁    Keeps operators up to date on training requirements
⦁    Maintains communications between teams and other business units
⦁    Runs the team in producing high-quality products

 

Required Qualifications

⦁    High School Diploma or GED
⦁    At least 7 years of direct related experience OR at least 5 years of operations experience in the Polyethylene industry
⦁    Solid safety behaviors, leadership, planning, troubleshooting, and organizational skills
⦁    Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift

Preferred Qualifications

  • Polyethylene experience
  • Associate Degree in Process Technology (or related field)
