Responsibilities

As a Process Control Engineer, your responsibilities include designing, developing, and deploying advanced control strategies to optimize plant processes with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and environmental impact. You will lead cross-functional teams to assess and enhance process control projects, integrating complex regulatory and advanced control configurations within Distributed Control Systems (DCS).

Key duties include:

  • Designing and implementing new advanced control applications, including configuring and maintaining systems such as Emerson DeltaV throughout their lifecycle.
  • Leading problem-solving and troubleshooting for process control issues, providing technical guidance and support to peers and stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining meaningful Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) tailored to process control applications, using performance data to identify and implement continuous improvements.
  • Conducting detailed data analysis to create statistical models, regressions, and offline optimization tools that inform control strategy enhancements.
  • Supporting and designing control strategies for capital projects and expense initiatives impacting process control systems.
  • Collaborating with diverse engineering disciplines and operational personnel to ensure control solutions meet project and operational goals.

 

This role requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for optimization, coupled with the ability to implement solutions that are both innovative and compliant with industry standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience or an Associate’s degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Educational background in engineering, instrumentation, electronics, or a related technical field.
  • Proficient in interpreting design documentation including P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, schematics, and Boolean logic.
  • Demonstrated expertise in control system configuration and controller tuning.
  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and optimizing process control strategies.
  • Experience within the petrochemical sector is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience working with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and advanced control application platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of modeling and simulation techniques related to process control.
  • Experience with programming languages relevant to control system applications.
  • Skills in Human Machine Interface (HMI) design and development.
  • Track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives and delivering measurable results.
  • Strong capabilities in collaboration, decision-making, and influencing technical teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and innovations in regulatory and advanced process controls.
