Purpose/Introduction

Seeking a Project Engineer Team Lead to join our team at the Pasadena Complex located in Pasadena, Texas. This role will lead a team of 8 project engineers focused on managing site-based capital and expense turnaround and non-turnaround projects ranging from $350K to $10MM using CPDEP.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and technical support for the project engineering team. Prioritize, coordinate, and align work group activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and reliable.
  • Ensure industry and company codes and standards are followed, and that project deliverables are completed as planned.
  • Coordinate project prioritization with customers and facilitate project portfolio management for the site. Assist in setting priorities for design and construction contractors.
  • Mentor project engineers and guide them through the CPDEP and Pasadena Project Workflow. Coach and develop the team to maximize their potential and support career growth and development.
  • Assist with budget development, project cost controls, schedule compliance, and forecasting.
  • Guide project engineers in preparation for project stage gate GRT reviews.
  • TA Project Readiness. Facilitate overall TA project readiness, including capital and expense projects, in alignment with the TA team and TAPS milestones.
  • Develop, improve, and update Project Engineering department procedures.
  • Coordinate project portfolio updates as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 5 years of experience in a chemical plant or refinery.
  • Strong commitment to safety, leadership, and the ability to coordinate multi-disciplined teams.
  • Self-starter with excellent presentation, planning, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing multiple assignments, people, and projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of industry design codes and practices.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships within the team, support groups, customers and contractors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the development, management, and execution of capital projects during plant turnarounds.
  • Familiarity with CPDEP or other project management processes.
  • Experience with scheduling, project controls, and cost estimation.
  • Previous experience mentoring engineers.
