Purpose/Introduction

The Pasadena Plastics Complex is looking to fill the role of Quality Assurance Superintendent. This role manages a 24 hour lab operation. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide the leadership to drive a “zero” safety culture; ensure that the Employee Safety Process is properly executed; and that PSM best practices are integrated into daily activities.
  • Ensure that appropriate Quality Management Systems are implemented and maintained to maximize prime production and minimize customer complaints.
  • Ensure that the Customer Feedback System is adequately managed and maintained and that customer complaints are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the personnel assigned to the Quality function are properly trained and that their skills are maintained at an acceptable level.
  • Provide the leadership for achieving the ideals of the Quality Policy and for achieving plant-wide quality objectives.
  • Improve awareness of Customer requirements by being the “voice” of the Customer and ensuring that customers’ needs are met through the application of the Quality Management System.
  • Lead in achieving a Balanced Testing Strategy to support adequate testing for products while eliminating or reducing frequency of tests and improving cycle times.
  • Lead in the benchmarking and sharing of best practices among other CPC laboratories.
  • Provide the leadership to optimize the cost effectiveness of the Lab by improving productivity, reducing overtime, and achieving alignment with the SBUs on level of services provided in conjunction with a Balanced Testing Strategy.
  • Interface with customers and business partners.  Prepare customer and management presentations.
  • Ensure that Metrics, Procedures and Equipment are maintained, and issues resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide leadership of ISO program maintaining a pool of qualified internal ISO auditors and acting as the point of contact for internal, surveillance and recertification audit coordination and follow-up.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, advanced degrees a plus
  • A minimum 7 years of job-related experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication with ability to communicate to customers and plant leadership
  • Prior supervisory experience is required, with a preference for experience supervising in a Union environment, with demonstrated ability to build a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in SAP Quality Module and writing PO requisitions
  • Prior experience in LIMS
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
  • Knowledge of the Polyethylene loop manufacturing process
