Purpose/Introduction


Performance Pipe is currently seeking a Business Development Manager to join the Plano, TX office location. The Business Development Manager is responsible for managing new product development, identifying business opportunities, and maintaining an extensive knowledge of the current HDPE/MDPE pipe and fittings market.

 

This position requires frequent travel, by air, and CPChem’s current travel protocols require employees be vaccinated against COVID-19 to travel by air on company business. This position requires frequent in-person attendance at meetings and large group events, some of which may be held in locations that require vaccination for entry or which may require vaccination under CPChem’s current COVID-19 prevention protocols.

Responsibilities

 

  • Demonstrate leadership supporting Operational Excellence, Journey to Zero, and ICARE principles.
  • Works closely with sales, marketing, and technical groups to link customer needs and requirements with available and potential Performance Pipe technologies and capabilities thereby maximizing revenue for the division.
  • Prospects, vets, and qualifies new business opportunities, maximizing the value proposition, and coordinating the follow-through needed to close on new business opportunities.
  • Manages new market and application development to provide a viable, valued end use of rework material.
  • Manages the internal technical exchange meeting for all new product developments and product improvements as well as being accountable for milestone updates on current project status.
  • Regularly presents to the Performance Pipe Leadership Team on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
  • Attends industry functions such as PPI, PE Alliance, AWWA, and other conferences to provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Applies knowledge of the market and competitors to identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Promotes Performance Pipe’s competitive advantage of superior quality and brand trust.
  • Manages travel expenses and efficient use of other internal resources. 

Required Qualifications

 

  • A minimum education of bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or technical-related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of technical, marketing or sales experience within the plastic pipe market.
  • Strong skills working collaboratively in a diverse organizational structure.
  • Excellent communication with excellent organization and advanced planning skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage change within the organization, results oriented, ability to build and facilitate teams, strong communication skills and ability to influence, strong negotiating skills. 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • MBA 
  • Understanding of HDPE/MDPE product chemistry and physical properties.
