Chevron Phillips is seeking an Applications Support Analyst to join the Information Technology group at the Chevron Phillips Chemical Company Port Arthur, Texas plant.  The position reports to the Orange/Port Arthur IT Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting various critical manufacturing software systems and web applications, participate in enterprise and local project implementations, as well as provide after hours on call rotation duties with other team members. 


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support existing manufacturing plant software systems for various departments within the facility.
  • Work with plant customers to assist with providing solutions to meet specific data requirement needs with significant consideration given to enterprise available implementations.
  • Handle incoming Remedy Help Desk tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues within servers, databases, and other mission-critical systems.
  • Diagnose, test and resolve application problems and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
  • Document problem resolutions for use in after-hours support.
  • Develop and conduct end user training as necessary for various plant application systems.
  • Perform software application and disaster recovery testing, ensuring business-readiness following failover.
  • Participate as necessary in Corporate software development efforts.
  • Assist with Corporate application rollouts.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum Associates degree in the field of computer science, information systems, computer technology and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of and experience with enterprise infrastructure and desktop applications including, but not limited to:
    • Manufacturing application systems
    • OpenText document management system or similar
    • Laboratory management systems
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
  • Ability to support custom applications and work with application developers to diagnose issues and make necessary changes
  • Sufficient knowledge of SQL to create and maintain SQL-based reports
  • Proven ability to develop and interpret technical documentation for training and end user procedures.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Github or similar, MVC Pattern Power Apps.
  • Familiarity with development and support of power-user application technologies, such as Microsoft Access, Excel, and Power Apps.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages used with Windows 10, including VBScript and PowerShell
  • Experience using enterprise collaboration tools, including Microsoft SharePoint and Teams
  • Experience configuring IIS Web Servers for hosting custom and vendor web applications
