Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking an Environmental Superintendent to join our team at the Port Arthur and Orange Facilities located in Port Arthur and Orange, Texas. This position reports directly to the Port Arthur / Orange EHS&S Manager. It will be responsible for planning, directing, developing, and managing all aspects of environmental work and environmental group members at the Port Arthur Olefins / Cyclohexane and Orange Polyethylene manufacturing facilities.   #HPCP


  • Communicating environmental issues and progress with plant personnel from Operations field personnel to Plant Management.
  • Interfacing with regulatory agencies with respect to audits, investigations and other enforcement matters along with Corporate Environmental and Legal.
  • Providing expertise and consultation on environmental programs and issues.
  • Tracking/reporting plant wide environmental performance metrics; providing regulatory updates (new and revised), and training plant personnel.
  • Managing and developing direct reports.
  • Developing and maintaining group budget.
  • Participating in due diligence activities.
  • Working with adjacent refinery Environmental staff and with local groups on regulatory and advocacy issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field and at least 7 years of environmental regulatory or industrial related experience.
  • Minimum of at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Federal NSPS and MACT standards.  
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of RCRA waste and NPDES water regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and strong understanding of TCEQ state and EPA federal environmental regulations and agency processes and permitting.
  • Ability to communicate and interface effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to negotiate.
  • Developed presentation, writing, planning, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams to implement environmental regulatory initiatives, projects, and systems.
  • Strong intra-company and inter-company networking skills.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills with environmental regulatory agencies and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of plastic and olefins manufacturing processes and associated regulatory requirements.
  • At least 10 years of Environmental regulatory experience
  • At least 7 years of supervisory experience.
