Chevron Phillips Chemical is currently seeking a Plant Shift Coordinator to join our team at the Port Arthur facility in Port Arthur, Texas.  Under the direction of the Operations Superintendent and working closely with the Operations Assistants, Operations Maintenance Coordinators, and Operations Engineers. The Plant Shift Coordinator directs and coordinates plant operations in accordance with the operating plan, supervises the personnel assigned to the shift, and ensures actions of shift are aligned with the business plan. 




  • Maintains proper communications and coordination within the shift, facilitates communication with functional organizations and other shifts, including communication with feed supply, product distribution and adjacent Valero operations. 
  • Facilitates crew meetings with a focus of developing the capabilities and skills of the crew.
  • Ensures the safety of personnel assigned to the shift, procedures are followed, and equipment is operated safely and reliably. 
  • Leads safety process on shift, JSA, safety meetings, what-if's, ensures procedures are followed.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory laws and policies and makes first report to environmental agencies as required.
  • Coordinates the training and development of operators and trainees assigned to the shift.  
  • Serves as the ranking on-site Chevron Phillips Chemical manager in the plant during off hours and weekends.
  • Manage planned maintenance work on a daily basis and ensure safety work practices are followed. 
  • Supports the Asset Operations/Asset Availability work processes.


Required Qualifications: 


  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. 
  • Must have at least 8 years of manufacturing experience in a chemical plant or refinery.  
  • Must possess excellent communication skills along with well-developed interpersonal skills to resolve personnel and plant issues and challenges. 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Operations experience with boilers, ethylene or aromatics processes.
  • Supervisory or Head Operator experience.
