Chevron Phillips is seeking a Network Analyst in the Information Technology group located at Chevron Phillips Chemical's Sweeny/Old Ocean, TX plant. This position reports to the Sweeny IT Manager. This is a critical IT support position  responsible for administering and overseeing business network design implementation, maintenance tasks, as well as troubleshooting and resolution of issues. The selected candidate will manage fiber/copper networks, switches, routers, and other network equipment to ensure resources are reliable and available. This position will interface with multiple groups.

 

Chevron Phillips is seeking a Network Analyst in the Information Technology group located at Chevron Phillips Chemical's Sweeny/Old Ocean, TX plant. This position reports to the Sweeny IT Manager. This is a critical IT support position  responsible for administering and overseeing business network design implementation, maintenance tasks, as well as troubleshooting and resolution of issues. The selected candidate will manage fiber/copper networks, switches, routers, and other network equipment to ensure resources are reliable and available. This position will interface with multiple groups.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, monitor, tune and maintain all plant switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure a robust, stable network. Ensure compliance to all corporate and plant policies and procedures.
  • Administer and maintain network applications that include CCTV and Access Control hardware and software. This role interfaces with multiple groups within the IT organization.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance, evaluation, and installation tasks to ensure network performance meets business and plant requirements.
  • Document and maintain all pertinent information for access points, hubs, firewalls, routers, switches, fiber and copper networks and related licenses.
  • Follow company standard change management processes.
  • Identify utilization patterns and their effect on the network and systems availability and performance expectations. Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
  • Support specific applications that are running on the network. Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test, and implement solutions.
  • Develop good working relationships with Corporate staffs and all other Plant groups outside of IT as well as with third party vendors whose products and services are utilized by IT in the Plant.
  • Lead and/or participate in plant infrastructure projects.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Cisco experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience deploying and troubleshooting switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, wireless access points, and protocols.
  • Knowledge of computer/network security systems, applications, procedures, and designs.
  • Self-motivated, assertive, energetic and a strong work ethic - someone who can also work with minimal managerial intervention and lead projects.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
  • Very strong customer service orientation, including evening/weekend work in response to business needs.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and testing abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple projects in a manufacturing plant.
  • Strong commitment to safety.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Cisco CCNP certification.
  • Familiarity with access control systems and CCTV.
  • Experience with physical fiber/copper network installation work.
  • Experience with project management processes.
  • Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

This is an exempt job family/individual contributor position. Final grade determination will be based on the successful candidate’s overall qualifications.
