Purpose/Introduction

We are currently seeking a Process Safety Management (PSM) Superintendent to join our team at the Sweeny, Clemens & Old Ocean Facility located in Sweeny, Texas area. This position reports to the facility EHS&S Manager. The successful candidate will ensure overall compliance with the OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) standard, EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) as well as industry and company standards, procedures, guidelines and best practices. 

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of three engineers of varying experience levels
  • Responsible for the performance, development, technical competency and staffing of the process safety group
  • Manages facility’s risk portfolio and provides oversight of the Risk Management Steering Committee which is made up of representatives from Operations, Maintenance, EHS&S, Training and Technical Departments
  • Responsible for maintaining the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) schedule, assuring that PHAs are conducted on time, and in compliance with all applicable Global OE Standards
  • Leads facility’s Process Safety competency program and increases Process Safety awareness and fluency throughout the facility
  • Process safety element owner of Employee Participation, Process Hazards Analysis, Pre-Startup Safety Review, Mechanical Integrity, Management of Change and Compliance Audits
  • Directing PSM departmental responsibilities such as facility siting, process safety metrics compilation and reporting, PSM training, and facility risk register tracking and reporting
  • Supports facility incident investigation process
  • SCO Representative on company PSM Best Practices Team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Process Safety-related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a petrochemical, refinery or manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Process Safety experience supporting manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated experience with HAZOP/LOPA processes and procedures
  • Root Cause Analysis facilitation experience
  • Previous leadership experience

 

 

This is an exempt supervisory position and has been posted with a maximum grade of 86. However, depending on the candidate’s qualifications relevant to the position, the assigned grade may be higher or lower than the posted position grade.
