Production Engineer

Purpose/Introduction

We are currently seeking qualified individuals to join our team as a Unit 22 Ethylene Unit Production Engineer at our Sweeny/Old Ocean location. Under the direction of the Unit Superintendent, the Production Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting analysis to ensure the unit runs safely and efficiently. They should drive the Tenets of Operation in their daily activities. This position will be driving daily plant optimization and longer-term projects. The successful candidate needs to exhibit strong safety leadership, initiative, teamwork, excellent communication skills, assertive decision-making, self-starter orientation, and a dedication to plant optimization. The operations engineer will work with the unit operators, engineering, leadership team, and all other departments to ensure all safety, environmental, production, and cost goals are met.

Responsibilities

• Safety and Compliance - Acts as a safety leader in the unit and champions safety with every decision made. Assists in addressing all safety and environmental issues promptly. Provides operations oversight and assistance for support group efforts. Participates in unit audits and resolves findings. Works closely with operators and maintenance to troubleshoot operating problems.
  Environmental - Prepares Environmental Emissions calculations and reports. Assists in the preparation of Monthly Title V reports. Optimizes current and future operations to reduce emissions.
  Projects - Functions as a team representative on large projects. Will act as the project coordinator on various small projects. Maintains oversight of long-range scheduling activities such as deliveries, project implementation, and tankage movements as required.

  Communication - Prepares operating instructions, operator training, night orders, and verbal communications for unit operators. Coordinates with the business team as required. Maintains open and effective communication on and across all shifts within department, unit leadership, other operating units, business groups, and other functional support personnel.
  Maintenance - Participates in maintenance scheduling. Provides leadership in maintenance outage planning. Helps to improve planning and scheduling. Uses SAP and other databases effectively.
  Training - Provides oversight for Standard Operating Procedure updates and ensures integrity is maintained. Ensures NOC's and MOC's are accurate and well-communicated.
  Quality - Ensures that the highest quality product is produced. Provides oversight of process conditions. Monitors the process operating conditions of the unit. Works with the team to adjust operating conditions as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• Must have at least 1 year of manufacturing experience.
• The successful candidate must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
• The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate skills in evaluating and prioritizing work to ensure alignment with the department's goals.
• Excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills
• Must exhibit a continuous improvement focus in the areas of safety, environmental and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Olefins unit operations.
