Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC is currently seeking an Instrument & Electrical Design Engineer for its' Sweeny, Texas facility.

This position provides instrument and electrical design support to the facility as a member of the design engineering team for the basic and detailed installation of systems for the petrochemical industry. 

Responsibilities

  • Process & Instrumentation flow diagrams (Mechanical Flow Sheets).
  • Instrument loop diagrams and detail instrumentation installation drawings.
  • Instrumentation and process control specifications.
  • Safety Instrumented Systems analysis and design.
  • Single line diagrams and power distribution detail design.
  • Control wiring diagrams and detail design of interlocks and shutdown systems.
  • Equipment specification (HV intake substation, HV switchgear, LV switchboards and MCC's, transformers, capacitor banks, UPS and DC supplies, lighting equipment, etc.)
  • Grounding system sizing, calculations and equipment specifications.
  • Interface design for vendor's equipment skids or packages.
  • Load flow, short-circuit calculation and equipment protection sizing.
  • Design review of drawings made by electrical and instrumentation designer technicians.
  • The position will work closely with operations, maintenance, reliability, and project engineering teams in the development of projects and maintenance related work.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of in-plant project management experience OR  bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management with at least 3 years of experience working in a petrochemical plant or refinery 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with instrument and electrical design
  • Experience with instrument and electrical specifications and NFPA codes and standards
  • Knowledge of conventional instrumentation and controls
  • Knowledge of Power Systems
