Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Rotating Equipment Reliability Team Lead to join our team at our facility in Sweeny, Texas.  This position provides functional leadership and direction to the Rotating Reliability Engineers and the Rotating Equipment Specialists. The Rotating Equipment Reliability Team Lead is responsible to provide machinery technical support and predictive technologies to develop and maintain programs that enhance the reliability and integrity of rotating machinery. This individual must have good working knowledge of reliability best practices and organizational capability to drive and influence change in the manufacturing organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Mechanical Integrity & Reliability Program and ensures that compliance System of Record is accurate and updated
  • Coordinate reliability activities between Engineering, Operations and Maintenance departments
  • Ensure in-depth reviews of rotating equipment and recommendations for corrective actions are executed to improve equipment reliability
  • Develop and implement action plans to eliminate identified failure modes, including but not limited to modifications and changes
  • Ensure the vibration monitoring program includes data collection, analysis and interpretation of data, communication, and implementation of corrective actions
  • Provide resources for efforts that involve design engineering changes, maintenance procedure changes, preventive maintenance changes, and life cycle cost analysis
  • Establish and maintain accurate status of all mechanical equipment, develop and maintain history and performance to reveal bad & worst actors list
  • Communicate plant equipment issues and findings to Operations and Maintenance
  • Expand and improve the level of expertise with the Equipment Reliability Group
  • Participate and advise in developing plans for major shutdowns, construction or alteration projects where mechanical inspections will be critical to the accomplishment of the work
  • Ensure successful performance of investigations to identify and eliminate the root cause of failures 
  • Effectively manage employee relations matters within established policies and programs


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of manufacturing rotating equipment experience required OR a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of at least 10 years of rotating equipment experience in a petrochemical plant or refinery
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical standards as applied in petrochemical industry and knowledge of various Codes (i.e. API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA)
  • Knowledge and experience in setting up preventive maintenance plans on rotating equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to take conceptual ideas and translate them into functional programs
  • Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others and conduct multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good people management skills (leadership, delegation and particularly networking and influencing skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience
