We are seeking an Americas Normal Alpha Olefins (NAO) Account Manager to join our team in Houston, Texas. The Americas NAO Sales Team is responsible for the sales of NAO products from our Cedar Bayou facility and manages a portfolio of customers. Responsibilities will include communication and coordination with customers, supply chain, and product management in development and implementation of sales contracting and pricing strategy, developing new opportunities and sales with existing and new customers, and managing customer accounts and issues. CPChem anticipates a very dynamic environment for NAO products over the planning horizon.


The NAO Account Manager position is located in the Houston, TX area.


Due to its international travel requirements, this position has been designated as one in which employees must be Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19 and compliant with relevant COVID-19 requirements of the destination country to which their job duties require them to travel, unless an accommodation/exemption under applicable federal or state law has been approved.  As a condition of employment, a new hire for this position will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate visible safety, OE, and ICARE leadership
  • Build strong relationships with key customer personnel as well as internal resources such as Customer Service, Credit, Marketing Services, etc.
  • Understand and communicate customer's needs and capabilities at all customer facilities
  • Manage the customer relationship during stressful periods such as quality issues, supply interruptions, and supply shortages
  • Broaden account penetration beyond the procurement level
  • Position CPChem as a value-added business partner for its customers
  • Develop creative solutions to effectively address customer problems
  • Develop and effectively communicate detailed sales strategy for area of responsibility based on profitability and potential for growth
  • Develop and implement account strategies as well as successful negotiation plans to maximize CPChem's position and profitability of NAO products regardless of the business environment
  • Provide monthly sales forecast data
  • Communicate industry trends
  • Support NAO growth projects with execution of detailed sales plan
  • Manage budget and travel expenses


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree
  • Minimum of 3 years sales experience
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and creative problem solving
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Strong process improvement and problem-solving skills
  • A high capability for self-management/ self-initiative
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the U.S. and Canada


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Business, or Science related field
  • Strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated negotiations skills
