The Americas Specialty Chemicals Sales Manager is responsible for sales and business development activities for the region encompassing 305 customers, 218 MM pounds and approximately $232 MM in annual sales.  The Americas Specialty Chemicals Sales Manager fosters collaborative interaction with Product Management, Supply Chain, Borger Plant Personnel, and counterparts in Europe and Asia.  This position has direct account responsibility for select strategic accounts and has people management responsibility for 5 direct sales representatives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Achieve profitability, annual growth and sales targets by successfully managing the sales team, which includes 5 sales representatives as direct reports
  • Sales plan development and implementation for the region that supports product line goals and objectives
  • Directly manage and grow relationships with key regional and global accounts
  • Manage South American agent relationship
  • Lead negotiations with all contracted customers to secure long-term business
  • Monitor current market conditions and communicate with the Specialty Chemicals team
  • Represent CPChem at multiple industry related conferences
  • Work collaboratively within and outside the product line to achieve established goals
  • Set objectives, coach, and mentor performance of the sales team
  • Manage group budget and travel expenses; efficiently use other internal resources
  • Effectively communicate and reinforce company strategic initiatives

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering, business, or related field
  • At least 2 years sales experience consistently meeting or exceeding sales and profitability targets
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process by negotiating and closing sustainable sales
  • Demonstrated effective communication at all levels of customer organizations and within the CPChem network
  • Strong business acumen
  • Position requires up to 50% travel within US & Canada with occasional international travel

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sales Manager, Key Account Manager, National Account Manager, Commercial Manager, or Product Management experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Master of Business Administration preferred

 

This is an exempt job family/individual contributor position.  Final grade determination will be based on the successful candidate’s overall qualifications.
