Chevron Phillips is currently seeking a Distribution Safety Analyst / Specialist to join the Global Supply Chain organization at The Woodlands, TX headquarters location. The Distribution Safety Analyst / Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise on transportation regulations for all modes of transportation (highway, rail, water, and air), primarily focusing on the global transport of dangerous goods.

 

This position is an advisory role supporting multiple departments within the company on a global basis. The successful Candidate should have a career level of proficiency on at least the HMR, IMDG, and IATA regulations. 

 

The position presents an excellent opportunity to collaborate company-wide with various levels of leadership both domestically and internationally across the organization and reports to the Distribution Safety Manager.

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides support and guidance on compliance with applicable dangerous goods regulations (DOT HMR, IMDG, IATA, ADR, RID, ADN, TDG, etc.) including classification, packaging, marking, labeling, placarding, and shipping documentation.  
  • Classifies dangerous goods in Section 14 of Safety Data Sheets in coordination with Product Safety & Toxicology Group.
  • Performs Transportation Regulatory Gap Analysis for compliance with the regulations and CPChem OE standards.
  • Provides training on the domestic and international hazmat/dangerous goods regulations.
  • Ensures dangerous goods data is available and accurate in SAP. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance is achieved in a manner that allows for operational efficiency.
  • Assists in the resolution of dangerous goods discrepancies or transportation/shipping related issues in general.
  • Conducts technical research and conveys knowledge of domestic and international regulations for all modes of transportation.
  • Participates in business lines Product Risk Management Team (PRMT) monthly and/or quarterly meetings.
  • Assists and supports CPChem Groups with maintaining and further development of dangerous goods programs and management systems to include product regulatory compliance.
  • Works with colleagues in Global Supply Chain on the proper selection and implementation of the most accurate Standard Transportation Commodity Codes (STCC) and National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) for the most economical rates. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum education of bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 3 years of direct working experience with the HMR, IMDG Code and IATA dangerous goods regulations.
  • Demonstrated strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills with confidence to train, mentor, and advise others in systems and processes within the span of responsibilities.
  • Creative at recognizing and solving problems, particularly with respect to core functions, systems, and activities.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, work independently, be self-motivated and interface at various levels of the organization to achieve common goals.
  • Team player with the ability to build solid working relationships with multiple stakeholders and leverage the diverse talents of stakeholders across the organization.
  • Consistently exhibits high ethical standards and strong work ethic.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an EHS or other scientific or engineering related discipline.
  • Training on the Canadian TDG, familiarization with SAP DG module, knowledge of the International Bulk Chemical Code (IBC) and USCG regulations.
