Responsibilities
Commercial:
● Negotiates/develops commercial contracts for containerized ocean carrier services
● Performs ocean freight analytics to seek and improve on logistics practices with the aim of contributing a competitive edge to the business groups
● Supports export supply chain strategy to optimize ocean pricing, efficiency and resiliency
● Develops/maintains commercial relationships with ocean carriers and internal business units
● Responsible for harmonizing and monitoring relevant supply chain operations with service providers, ASO’s, JV’s and other internal stakeholders where appropriate
● Evaluates alternative ocean carrier providers to meet business requirements or global trends
● Participates in industry associations as needed
● Provides monthly, annual, and ad hoc ocean carrier reports to management
● Supports forecasting and budgeting to business units, ASO’s & JV’s and invoice reconciliation
● Oversee Organizational Capability objectives and promote employee development
Responsibilities (continued)
Operational Responsibilities:
● Manages and supervises day-to-day operations with service providers, coordinating with logistics (i.e. escalation of issues, process improvement etc.)
● Leads operational ocean routing guide process in coordination with internal stakeholders ● Establishes and maintains relationships with key operating personnel and service
● Resolves performance issues with service providers, facilitates and communicates to stakeholders
● Investigates customer feedback system entries (CFS) related to ocean carrier activities, performs root-cause analysis and implements improvement efforts to prevent recurrence ● Identifies opportunities for innovation/sustainability on ocean routing and operations
● Conducts and reviews ocean carrier invoices exceptions for accuracy, approving as appropriate as needed
● Identify shortcomings and suggest improvement to existing processes, systems, and procedures related to ocean freight spend and exception handling
● Operational Excellence implementation and adherence to standards as required
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in business, industrial engineering, supply chain, logistics, or other technical fields and 5 years relevant experience OR High School Diploma and 10 years of experience, with 5 of which being relevant to Ocean Carrier Freight Negotiations or Operations
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
● Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
● Proficient in Microsoft tools. (Excel, Word, PowerBI, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
● Ability to interact with internal/external stakeholders
● Ability to nurture customer and supplier relationships
● Ability to work well in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
● Working knowledge of SAP
● Working knowledge freight optimization tools / indexes
● Commercial and/or operational experience in ocean carrier operations and contracting
● Commercial negotiation experience
● Solid organizational skills
