Chevron Phillips Chemical is currently seeking a Government Affairs Senior Manager based in Washington, D.C.  This is a highly visible role in the organization and will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the business. 

 

Major Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive government affairs strategies to advance the organization's interests in federal policy matters.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the federal level, analyze their potential impact on the organization, and provide strategic guidance to senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, industry associations, and advocacy groups.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, hearings, and other forums to advocate for our positions on critical policy issues.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between government affairs initiatives and broader organizational goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and present policy briefings, reports, and other materials to communicate the organization's positions effectively.
  • Track relevant legislation, regulations, and political developments, and provide timely updates and analysis to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in coalition-building efforts and engage in strategic partnerships to amplify our advocacy efforts and achieve policy objectives.
  • Influence federal regulatory and legislative policy and recommend positions and strategies that advance CPChem’s business objectives.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in government affairs, lobbying, public policy advocacy, or related roles, with a focus on federal policy issues.
  • Previous experience in a government office (elected office and executive office preferred), a corporate government affairs group, industry trade association, or management of a political action committee (PAC).
  • Strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory processes at the federal level, including experience working with congressional committees, federal agencies, and trade associations.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective advocacy strategies that drive positive outcomes.
  • Successful candidate must possess outstanding analytical and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CPChem key products, markets and manufacturing facilities preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze legislation, regulations, and policy proposals and assess their implications for the organization.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and adapting quickly to evolving priorities and challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

 

Minimum Education required:

  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, law, or a related field.
