Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking an IT Security Data Governance Analyst to join the Business Transformation organization at the corporate headquarters in The Woodlands, TX.  The individual will serve as a key member of CPChem's IT Security Governance, Risk and Compliance group and will be responsible for supporting all enterprise data governance activities and will have responsibility for improving the access and protection of sensitive data.

 

This is position reports directly to the IT GRC Manager and will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework, data policies, standards, and practices, both at the department and business levels. The successful candidate will have the primary function to support Information Security Data Governance efforts and support the broader governing bodies for Data Governance and Security.

 

This position is eligible for the current hybrid work model (split of remote and office-based days).

 

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads, motivates, and facilitates cross-functional teams in the development of information and data governance initiatives.
  • Maintain, develop, and refine policies, process and systems associated to data classification, data access, data control, and escalations
  • Partner with legal and privacy teams to ensure proper data handling policies and procedures are followed and IT policies are aligned
  • Deploy tools and process to gain better visibility into data use and governance and continually evolve company’s data discovery abilities
  • Develop and maintain data maps to validate that the company has a clear understanding of where all sensitive data resides and who has access to that data.
  • Aid in incident response efforts due to data misuse and/or disclosures
  • In conjunction with IT, business groups, analytics, and senior leadership, define and communicate a data governance roadmap
  • Develop and implement data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the organization
  • Enforce data governance practices to uphold the value of the data access, within the company with regular audits

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum education of bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of related Cyber / Information Security / Technology risk management or Audit experience
  • Experience in audit/risk management methodologies and regulatory requirements pertaining to information security, business continuity, privacy, and/or data security
  • Demonstrated experience defining and building a comprehensive agile Data Governance program
  • Experience in policy and compliance management in information security, business continuity, privacy, and/or data security
  • Experience in presenting and/or delivering training to technical and non-technical professionals across domains/levels
  • Strong security inclination
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong documentation and/or technical writing skills
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education of bachelor’s degree (Information Systems/Data Governance/Computer Science or related field)
  • 5+ years of experience working in a Data Governance and privacy role
  • Knowledge of data ingestion, data warehouse, big data, data analytics, and business intelligence technology and methods
  • Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC)
  • Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Certified Data Protection (CDP)
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
