Purpose/Introduction
The Corporate Process Safety team oversees safety planning and risk management worldwide for Chevron Phillips Chemical, including metric gathering, analysis, and reporting using Power BI. It provides safety information, trend analyses, and recommendations to drive proactive safety measures.
Chevron Phillips Chemical Company is seeking to fill a Process Safety Engineer position at its corporate headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas. The Process Safety Engineer will report to the Process Safety Execution Manager within the Corporate Process Safety organization. The Process Safety Data Engineer will serve as a liaison between the corporate PSM team and site-level process safety engineers to facilitate the identification, classification and remediation of risks and incidents. #HPCP
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for process safety related metrics, risk registers, PHA, Incidents and other tools.
- Extract, transform, and load data from various sources into Power BI
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and understand data sources
- Provide training and support to end-users on how to navigate and interpret Power BI dashboards
- Troubleshoot issues and optimize performance of Power BI reports and dashboards
- Collaborate with other Corporate Process Safety team members to create digital tools that aid in other PSM areas (PHA, standard scenario, etc.)
- Serve as a point of contact for other digital corporate teams to help facilitate development of emerging PSM technologies
- Act as a liaison to manufacturing sites to help facilitate accurate and successful monthly metric reporting
Responsibilities (continued)
- Participate and help plan and facilitate the Process Safety Best Practice team and its key initiatives and projects.
- Coordinating annual PSM Overview and MOC training for GRAD engineers
- Supporting and further developing the Process Safety Core Competency program
- Developing Lessons Learned and Safety Alerts and other communications
- Supporting the Human Performance strategy
- Communicate to various audiences including senior company leaders and plant leaders at various levels as well as engineers of various experience.
- Engage with applicable industry groups to improve and support our programs such as Walk the Line and Human Performance
- Seeking innovative ideas to progress Excellence Simplified and to support Performance By Design.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical or electrical engineering or other related major
- At least 18 months of experience using a reporting application such as Power BI or other application
- At least 18 months of experience working in a petrochemical facility
- Experience developing data-driven solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming in Excel (VBA), SQL, and/or DAX
