Chevron Phillips is currently seeking a Records and Information Governance Specialist to join the Legal & Public Affairs organization located at The Woodlands, TX, headquarters. The Records and Information Governance Specialist is responsible for managing and implementing the Annual Records Compliance (ARC) Campaign and assist the Information Governance Program Manager in the formation and execution of the Records and Information Management/Information Governance Program. 


This position is eligible for the current hybrid work model (split of remote and office-based days).


  • Administrative duties including off-site records account administration, invoice management, and security administration.
  • Coordinate information sharing standards, guidelines and collaborate space configuration.
  • Assist IG Program Manager in the development and implementation of the Information Governance Program.
  • Maintains RIM/IG intranet site and other technical resources.
  • Assists in developing best practices guides and quick reference materials for publication on RIM/IG intranet site.
  • Performs highly complex to advanced consultive and technical assistance work under the direction, guidance, and management of the IG Program Manager.
  • Analyzes, coordinates, and oversees the development and implementation of departmental data placement strategies.
  • Manages the Annual Records Compliance (ARC) Campaign under the direction of the IG Program Manager.
  • Assists with the identification of organizational vital records and the creation and maintenance of organizational vital records protection and disaster recovery plans.
  • Coordinates and reviews the disposition of records in off-site records storage.
  • Assists in litigation support activities.
  • Updates and validates Information Governance Network liaison list.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in records management. 
  • Minimum education of High School Diploma/GED. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel and Word, and strong familiarity with Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Experience developing file plans. 
  • Experience with records destruction and program auditing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying retention schedule requirements to information and Official Records.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and staff, particularly records creators and custodians, to ensure consistency and proper procedure implementation of CPChem’s RIM and Information Governance Program. 
  • Experience implementing and managing Vital Records Protection Program. 
  • Education of an associate's degree.
  • Information governance experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute RIM and IG principles on information and data structures to ensure compliance with policy.
  • Ability to document and analyze organizational processes and recommend improvements and risk mitigation measures.
  • Understanding of permissions and roles that ensure information management environment that supports protection and accessibility of information
  • Experience developing and delivering records management training through classroom, one on one, and online presentations.
  • Understanding of hierarchal data structures and ability to collaborate with data owners and data custodians to identify and resolve more complex data governance issues in a timely and collaborative manner.
  • Understanding of upstream and downstream data flows and processes. 
  • Knowledge of M365 Retention Labeling
  • Advanced computer and software application skills.
  • Strong detail orientation.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks, adjust to changing priorities, and complete tasks under time constraints.
