Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join the Business Transformation organization located at The Woodlands, TX headquarters location. This role will be focusing on the design, development, and testing of robust high-performance web applications. The individual is a strong contributor with excellent communication skills. The successful candidate has advanced programming skills allowing them to assist developers in the design and testing of their code, as well as the creation of automation testing tools and frameworks to assist in a range of testing activities in and outside of the typical developer workstream.

 

This position is eligible for the current hybrid work model (split of remote and office-based days).

Responsibilities

  • Identification of needed testing to ensure high quality software releases.
  • Assist developers in the analysis and design of tests, providing effective feature coverage.
  • When developer-created tests are insufficient, creation of test harnesses, automation frameworks, and automated tests in support of meeting quality goals.
  • Effective manual and smoke testing as needed, while seeking to automate identified repetitive manual tests
  • Solve technical issues in their areas of expertise without significant assistance.
  • Initiate, participate in, and on occasion perform code reviews as part of the Git pull request process.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer or equivalent job responsibilities (e.g. Software Development Engineer in Test, Software Developer responsible for testing automation, etc.)
  • Proven experience creating automation frameworks and tools to support test automation
  • Strong experience with various testing types, particularly targeting web applications
  • Skilled with JavaScript and/or TypeScript in the creation of automated tests
  • Proficient in Git usage for local and distributed version control
  • Excellent communication abilities and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related discipline Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience with Continuous Integration
  • Experience with industry standard test automation tools and development of test harnesses
  • Experience with Cypress.JS for end-to-end web application testing
  • Experience with Appium for native mobile testing
  • Experience using GitHub for version control and developer collaboration
  • Experience with Computer Science fundamentals, including Objected Oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
  • Experience working within an Agile Scrum team structure
  • Interest in researching and experimenting with new technologies outside of core responsibilities
