The Sustainability Certification Specialist will become CPChem’s subject matter expert for evaluating, implementing, and coordinating sustainability certifications across the organization including CPChem’s Advanced Recycling ISCC PLUS certifications. Responsibilities will include maintaining a deep understanding of certification options and maintaining an awareness of regional legislative and regulatory matters impacting certification approaches.  This position plays a critical role in achieving CPChem’s advanced recycling goal of producing 500 kta of certified circular polymers by 2030 plus. 


  • Become CPChem’s subject matter expert for ISCC PLUS and other certification standards.  Address questions and provide certification recommendations to commercial and executive management and to key industry groups. 
  • Lead companywide ISCC PLUS certifications and recertifications supporting CPChem’s global facilities including Cedar Bayou, Sweeny, Pasadena, Orange, Port Arthur, polymer storage warehouses and European sales offices. Build long-term operational competency at each facility.
  • Coordinate ISCC PLUS certifications at third party refineries including owner refineries as needed.  Coordinate mass balance accounting in the respective organizational supply chains.
  • Identify, assess, and pursue new certification opportunities in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with feedstock procurement, plants, commercial planning and sales to forecast certification needs.  Vett and publish a comprehensive annual audit schedule that accommodates commercial forecast.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or comparable technical degree
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing, planning and/or technical role
  • Fundamental understanding of olefins and/or polyethylene manufacturing processes


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mass balance accounting for a circular supply chain
  • Experience utilizing industry standards (ISO, CPChem EHS, RMS, Engineering, etc.)
  • Background in business planning or analysis
  • Petroleum refining experience
